Any Hour Kitchen

Dinner Should Fit Your Rota, Not the Other Way Round.

You work earlies, lates and nights. Every meal plan you have ever tried assumed you work Monday to Friday. This one does not.

Free. Five dinners and one grocery list, and it asks for an email address and nothing else.

Most meal plans assume Monday looks like Monday

Mine never did. I would sit down on a Sunday with the energy to plan a whole week, and by Wednesday I was coming off nights with nothing thawed and no real idea what day it was.

So it became a takeaway again. Not because I cannot cook, and not because I had not tried. Because by the time I got home, deciding was the one thing I had nothing left for.

Deciding what to cook is the part you have nothing left for.

What changed was small. I stopped planning by the day of the week, and started planning by the shift I had just finished. That is the whole idea, and everything here is built on it.

How it works

Five kinds of day, and a dinner built for each one. You do not look at the calendar. You look at the shift you have just come off, and cook the one that matches.

Every other meal plan runs Monday to Friday. This one runs Early, Late, Night, Day off, After nights.
EarlyHome by four, still standing

The one day you have some energy left. This is where the tray bake goes, and where you get ahead of the rest of the week.

LateNothing that needs a shop

You are home at ten and the supermarket shut hours ago. Everything in this one is already in the cupboard or the freezer.

NightFood at four in the morning

Something that sits properly at an hour your body thinks is the middle of the night, and does not keep you awake after.

Day offThe one that pays you back

Twenty minutes here makes three other dinners easier. It is the only bit of prep in the whole thing, and it is optional.

After nightsThe day it always fell apart

The hardest day to feed anybody, including yourself. Fifteen minutes, one pan, and no decisions in it. If you only ever use one page of this, use this one.

Why I do this

I am Priya. I am an ICU nurse in Manchester, married, one child, and I have worked rotating shifts for eleven years.

For most of those years I ate badly and felt guilty about it. Not because I did not know how to cook, but because every system I found was built for somebody whose week repeats. Mine flips constantly, and so every plan collapsed by Wednesday and I blamed myself for it rather than the plan.

The templates here are the ones I actually use, written between shifts, tested on the worst weeks rather than the good ones. There is nothing clever in them. They exist because nobody was making anything for people who work the hours we work.

Start With the Free Week

Five dinners, mapped to the shifts you actually work. Cook two of them and you will know within a week whether this is for you.

A first name and an email address, and nothing else.
